Rising

The old often are the poets
While the young provide songs
And the children dance their merry hearts into the streets
While old misers sit grumpily,
The young ponder conquest-
But conquistadors
Are extinct;
Let’s raise young warriors
Who join battle cries for justice
Not for fainting lilies
But for strong resolute substance
Carrying swords and anthems of power.
Let no disgraceful hatred replicate to the next generation;
Extinguish no flame raised rebelliously to arrogant greed;
By our insistent demand,
We cry out in the night and
Rise like Helios in the morning.
